Can I take the course on my phone or tablet?

Yes. However, for the best user experience, we recommend taking longer courses on a computer.

Is internet access required?

Yes, an internet connection is required to log in and view your online course. All courses offer a range of multimedia features, and we recommend that you have a good broadband or network connection for the optimal experience.

How can I troubleshoot audio or video issues?

We recommend the following when having problems with audio or video:

  •  check or reset your internet connection
  • clear your cache
  • update your browser or try another browser
  • check your speaker/headphone connection and your audio system preferences

What are the system requirements for accessing a webinar?

Most live Lamaze webinars are run through Zoom. You can test your connection here. Recordings are made available in .mp4 format or via a Zoom link.

What can I do if I'm having issues opening a course?

You will need to allow pop-ups from this site to launch a course. Some web browsers or settings may automatically block the pop-up from opening. Many browsers will show a symbol in the address bar that notifies you that it is actively blocking pop-ups. Click on the pop-up icon in the address bar to enable pop-ups from this site. Every browser will have their own settings for allowing pop-ups and you may need to Google "how to enable pop-ups on Chrome/Firefox/Safari/etc." if enabling the pop-up from the address bar does not work.

About our Courses for Perinatal Professionals

What types of educational products are available?

There are many options for eLearning. All options are available for viewing and filtering through the Catalog function. For perinatal professionals we have Webinars, Homestudies from the Journal of Perinatal Education, Educator Essentials Modules, On-Demand Learning, and Certification Preparation courses. For parents, there are four courses. Each of our online Lamaze classes include videos, text to read, audio, slideshows, interactive elements, quizzes, and personal reflections.

You can also view different learning packages created by Lamaze in the Catalog Search.

What types of Continuing Education (CE) credits do you offer?

Depending on the individual course, Lamaze offers Lamaze Contact Hours (valid for Lamaze recertification and other professional certifications), CERPs (valid for IBLCE recertification), and Continuing Nursing Education credits for nurses in the US through the California Board of Registered Nursing. Lamaze International is a provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #15932. Lamaze International is a long-term provider of CERPs, provider #CLT108-12.

How do I earn my CE certificates?

Most courses will have a quiz at the end that learners must pass by answering at least 80% of the questions correctly. Learners may re-take quizzes if they do not pass on the first try. If the course does not have a quiz, learners must complete the course in its entirety to earn their CE certificate.

How long do courses remain available in the Lamaze Learning Center?

Courses are reviewed every three years by the Continuing Education (CE) Committee to ensure the content is current and relevant to the present-day perinatal professional. Should the CE Committee choose to sunset a course you have already purchased, you will be notified via email in advance so you can finish the course prior to it leaving the platform.

About our Courses for Parents

I thought Lamaze was all about breathing. Do you have a class on breathing exercises for labor?

Although many consider Lamaze breathing to be the hallmark of Lamaze childbirth preparation, Lamaze education is much more comprehensive, encompassing pregnancy, birth, and even postpartum care like bodyfeeding and early parenting. At their essence, Lamaze classes are all about helping expectant parents understand their bodies, options for care, the process of labor and birth, and preparing for baby, so you can make informed decisions about your needs and desires during pregnancy, birth, and beyond. We do not have a class focused only on breathing techniques, but you will see them in a few of our classes. If you’re interested in ways to make labor easier and less painful, try Labor Pain Management: Techniques for Comfort and Coping.

Is an online class the same as an in-person Lamaze class?

Our online classes are not designed to replace an in-person class with a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE). Each online class is focused on a specific topic, while an in-person Lamaze class will generally provide a more comprehensive education, led by an LCCE who can provide hands-on guidance and attention as you learn about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, practice labor positions, and practice other techniques for comfort and coping during labor.

All of our online classes are self-paced, so the time it takes to complete a class varies from person-to-person – on average, most classes take around two to two and a half hours to complete, while most in-person Lamaze classes would be at least six hours and some even span a number of weeks prior to your estimated due date.

We know many parents opt to take online classes due to time or location constraints and ease of access. You may also search for Lamaze classes near you on our website – many of our LCCEs also offer virtual classes.

Can I share this class with my partner or members of my support team?

Yes, you can share your online class with your partner or members of your support team at their convenience. If they would like their own individual login, they will need to purchase access to the class.

How long does it take to complete a class?

All of our online classes are self-paced, so the time it takes each individual to complete a class will vary. On average, most classes take an hour and a half to complete.

What format are these classes?

Each of our online Lamaze classes include videos, text to read, images, slideshows, interactive elements, quizzes, audio, and personal reflections. You can also view different learning packages created by Lamaze in the Catalog Search.

Do I have to be online at a specific time?

Your online courses are available on-demand, which means that you can sign in at any time, day or night, and take your course.

Do you receive a certificate of completion when you complete the class?

Yes.  If you do need additional proof of completion for insurance purposes, please email elearnsupport@lamaze.org so we can help you further.
