Your childbirth class is perfectly designed, but you don’t actually have students to take it.  One factor that can drive your marketing success is designing your ideal client avatar.  By identifying your ICA you will be able to determine exactly what they are looking for in a childbirth class.  This understanding can help guide your marketing language and help you make appropriate business decisions.  This session will help you understand what an ICA is, why you need it, and how to get started.

Session 2: Developing Sustainable Programming and Business Practices

You’ve identified your ideal client and you’re beginning to develop your brand. Now it’s time to take this information and put it into action. This session will help you develop a sustainable program and strategize a pathway to retain customers.

Session 3: Harnessing Social Media: Content Creation, Planning, and Management

Learn to work smarter, not harder when it comes to utilizing Social Media for your business. This session, led by Digital Marketing Manager Madeline Paige, will cover the basics of Social Media content creation, planning, and management. Participants will better understand how your target audience is already using Social Media and how to use that information to your advantage.

Birthing Babies VA

Blake has been a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator since 2012, became a Fellow in the American College of Childbirth Educators in 2016, a birth doula since 2018, and began adding yoga and personal training credentials in 2020.

Blake believes that quality childbirth education should be available to all families and believes in Lamaze’s evidence based approach to childbirth education.  She launched Birthing Babies VA in 2016 to help meet this mission and loves working with birthing families and aspiring childbirth educators.  Blake believes it is important to not only prepare new educators on how to teach, but to also build successful birth businesses through her Lamaze Accredited Childbirth Educator Program.

Adding to her experiences as an educator, Blake has six years of experience running a multi-hospital prenatal education program and understands the unique environment this presents.  She also understands the sweat-equity that involves building a business from the ground up.

Wendy Trees Shiffer MS, CD(DONA), CLC, LCCE, FACCE, LEC

Family Trees Birth Programs

Wendy is the Executive Director and Instructor for Family Trees Birth Programs and holds a master’s degree in health sciences with a concentration in midwifery and women's healthcare.  She is a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, a Fellow of the Academy of Certified Childbirth Educators, a Certified Birth Doula, a Certified Lactation Counselor a Lamaze Program Director, and Chair of Lamaze’s Education Council.   Professionally, Wendy has co-facilitated research at Towson University School of Nursing which was published in the Journal of Perinatal Education. She regularly guest lectures at several universities and hospitals across the US as well as regional, national, and international conferences.   

Wendy is passionate about addressing the healthcare disparities that exist within the United States maternity care system.  She thoroughly enjoys sharing her love for labor support and childbirth education. Above all else, she is most proud of her four children.

In additional to starting her own production company, she has worked with Broadway producers, regional theaters, live entertainment production, and more.
